The Only Way To Fly

I should have mentioned this in my last post. One of the reasons it was so much easier to fly with Henry this time around was due to the fact that our Denver to Sacramento flight had two open seats next to us. Which gave Henry almost a solid hour of sleep on the plane. Praying for the same set up on the way home.

A Week In The Sun

This past week Henry and I have been visiting my side of the family in the Central Valley California. Flying with him this time was by far much easier than when he was a four month old. Staying in someone else's house is easier now as well. It has been so lovely to be in warmer weather for a week. I've spent a lot of time on the back patio trying to soak up the sun even though it isn't always quite warm enough for sun bathing.

This morning we spent some time at Woodward Park. We have been wanting to go to the Japanese Gardens within the park for years. And they were finally open today, and the trees were blooming. It was so peaceful.

And these two pictures were taken with my camera phone. Henry with my grandparents. I had the chance to see them and my Aunt and Uncle who were visiting from Oregon. We hung out all day, watching Henry, playing cards, and eating.

It has been a good and difficult trip. Both Henry and I really miss Brian. I am so looking forward to seeing his face on Monday night. Even if it is 15 degrees when we step off the plane.

Cabin Fever At It's Best

I've been busy. Busy with the shop, busy with the house and everything in it, but mostly busy hanging out with my family...my favorite kind of busy. We've been inside a lot this winter. We've watched movies, football and Modern Family, played on the floor, eaten in a lot, and thrown Henry into the air and made funny faces at him just for smiles.

Fair Earth

I came across Holly's blog and started to read about her travels as she visits the artisans that supply her Fair Trade shop in the Chicago area. I'll admit, I'm a bit envious and would love to someday visit many of our artisans. But for now I'll have to imagine the travels of the beautiful products that they make and the stories of changed lives that they encompass.

Fair Earth's products come from East Africa. These Kikoys are a traditional Kenyan textile hand-woven using 100% locally grown combed cotton. So beautiful.
